room # 4: the kitchen

DSC_0877 DSC_0878
Our kitchen is quite small but full of personal touches! The first thing that everyone notices is the stove which is mounted on a 40s football table (it was my husband’s idea and I love it!).
Untitled-3
Giulio’s granpa made the kitchen table (a classic table à la vicentina) and we put a print on it with a photo of us when we were children. We bought the pictures from a very talented photographer Piero Martinello.

This lamp made in an old helmet hairdressers is another of my husband’s stroke of genius. It’s charming having a special dinner with just this lamp turned on…

room # 3: the living room

i’ve already showed you our bedroom and zoeti’s bedroom (i still have to update because now she has a big bed…). now it’s time to introduce my living room! we’ve changed some things during the past months: a new sofa cover (i was so tired of that old orange!), an entrance with a place for shoes, coats and guests’ slippers (no shoes allowed in my house!), a new coffee table… now it’s more clean and monocromatic and i really love it! it’s easier to give importance to an object or a book in a neat frame.
giulio created or restored almost everything in our house… it’s the advantage of living with a creative handy-man!

the view from the hallway. you can see also a piece of kitchen, but that’s another story (and another room tour!)

details from the wall and the bookcase. we love to mix vintage & new, and travel memories

our big and comfortable sofa. i swear, everybody falls asleep in this sofa!! the magazine rack and the big lamp are original from 70s.

there are always some zoeti’s toys to give a touch of color here and there! on the other hand montessori said to create a corner for kids in the room where you spend more time and that’s definitely our family room for cuddles, laughing and spending time while mommy is cooking!

our entrance: when ikea meets an original swedish piece of the 40s // one of giulio’s masterpiece: an ipod stereo inside an old vacuum cleaner… isn’t he a genius?!?

again from the kitchen // an old furniture that giulio dedicated to me: one side has one of my picture and this one has the s. barbara’s picture that you can see at prado. above his collection of old clocks.

what i love most: BOOKS! i put all the travel guide together to remember all those beautiful moments and awesome adventures we had (and will have!)

a room for a big sister!

 DSC_0274
during the past month we made some changes in zoeti’s room. i’ve already post about her bedroom here, but after reading some montessori’s book i decided to create something more suitable for her.

DSC_0275

i’m proud of her room! there’s plenty of space to play, run, read and … receive friends! and it’s a great mix of vintage and new stuff, with an ikea touch here and there!

DSC_0276

the bookshelf was originally an ikea spice racks! it’s an interesting way to display books and i notice that zoeti “reads” a lot more since when we put her books like that. every night she runs to chose a book between the ones exposed. i rotate them every week. our favorite right now is I’m a big sister. i keep the italian books in one box and english books in another.

DSC_0278

giulio found that wonderful blue hanger in an antique market and zoeti can now hang her coat by herself (as montessori said). we also a table (ikea) and a bookshelf for toys, for keeping them in order and in a specific place.

DSC_0282DSC_0283

her closet is always the same and i love it so much! zoeti will share it with her brother or sister: a door for each! kids clothes are so beautiful that i love being able to see them through the closet!
DSC_0280

when we chose this crib (ikea) we know that  the bed sides were fixed, but it was so romantic that we bought it anyway. now zoeti is a big girl and my growing belly makes everything more difficult so in order to improve her autonomy (and help mommy’s back!) giulio did this bed side so she can easily go in and out. in a month her new bed will arrive and we put this away… waiting to use it again…

her music box and a creative corner, with colours, chalks and modeling clay. she loves painting (inside and outside the paper!)

DSC_0286

and that’s a little corner for the new brother or sister… to give shoes as good luck is a tradition here and you can see also one of my last purchases: a super cute baby onesie! i’ll share something more of our last shopping days soon!

my creative corner

as i've already said, i'm still shy to write "creative" and "me" in the same sentence, but i'm trying! We just renovated our bathroom so we had to move this beautiful and vintage cabinet that my uncle gave to me in our studio. i'm still trying to organize this small but indispensable room with gatherers for bills and boxes for photo albums, big boxes for scarves & hats and swimwears, electronical devices and office supplies...

so far we've just shared the cabinet! Giulio is using two shelfs for his toys and souvenirs and i'm using mine for rubber stamps, washi tape and sewing stuff. the cabinet is perfect for zoeti's curiosity: she can see what's inside but she can't reach anything (there's a key!): you know how much toddlers love buttons and colorfull stuff!! I really need to take a trip to the nearest ikea to buy other storage boxes, and something for wrapping papers, maybe something magnetic for scissors and needles... but for now i'm very happy and proud of myself!

room # 2: our bedroom

let's follow with my tour house, after zoeti's bedroom (here) it's time for our bedroom. i had to admit... it's a little bit too big... maybe we have to think about redistribution the spaces in the house.... but i love it! when we got married i was totaly into the oriental mood so i choosed a low, squared bed made with black wood, as the wardrobe. but, as you know, a personal style can change and now i'm more in a french-romantic-navy  moment. luckily we put some timeless pieces into the room and a lot of vintage stuff, along with travel memories. this mix is actually what i love most!

room # 1: zoeti's bedroom

i want to show you my house, one room at time. when i got married i was so busy organizing the wedding and home decor was not one of my passion. giulio was (and still is) the genious of the house, the one who creates everything from old and broken stuff and the one with a deep depp passion in furniture & co.
but since then i've started reading some of his books and read newspapers which were subscribers and i'm creating my very own style.

my tour of the house begins from the room that i feel MINE the most: zoeti's bedroom. it holds everything i love: white & blue colors, some romantic touch, a cozy atmosphere... the white woodwork and the blue stripes wallpaper (filling two walls) are the best part!

from the door

her best friend... arturo!

a touch of... ikea! giulio has renovated the dresser in the background with some disney's pictures

guess who made the writing?!

english books & italian books

i simply love her closet! it used to be in a school

while i look at these pictures i'm thinking that i desperately need a wide agle!
